About us

The Green Hydrogen Platform is a space for information about this new, clean, renewable energy that will affect the energy future of Brazil and the world.

The Platform exists to stimulate the exchange between opportunities and solutions to the challenges of strategic cooperation in the area of green hydrogen technologies. The goal is to encourage networking, identifying new businesses, establishing collaborations and creating a joint understanding of the requirements and demands, in different countries, to position Brazil as a strategic partner for the green hydrogen import.

This space here is also a meeting place for key stakeholders such as governments, industries, universities and non-governmental organizations to facilitate the development of high-range green hydrogen projects  and PtX technologies, as well as to promote the market expansion in Brazil and in Germany.

Our main partner and enabler of the project is the Brazilian-German Technology Partnership for Energy Storage, commissioned by: German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in close cooperation with the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

The project aims to support the Brazilian Government to implement energy storage technologies on a broad scale by advising political decision-makers, regulators, power utilities and grid operators on assessing technical usage possibilities and energy storage options and creating the necessary framework conditions.

Right now, the project is in the planning phase of the new project H2 Brasil. If H2 Brasil gets approved by the German and Brazilian Ministries, the project H2 Brasil will be integrated into the existing Energy Storage project, leading to an even stronger focus on hydrogen activities.

Cooperation between Brazil and Germany

The content of this platform is the result from the cooperation’s actions between the German-Brazilian Alliance for Green Hydrogen and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ).

The German-Brazilian Alliance for Green Hydrogen

The German-Brazilian Alliance for Green Hydrogen was created in August 2020 by the Brazil-Germany Chambers in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo to promote partnerships and business opportunities between Brazilian and German companies and institutions. Since then, it promotes different actions to boost the green hydrogen and PtX technologies development in Brazil, such as sector studies, events, workshops, Hackathons and the platform itself!

Also supportes of the Platform are the Brazil-Germany Energy Partnership (Energiepartnerschaft). Founded in 2008, by the German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), by means of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, and the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) and the Study Group on the Electric Energy Sector (GESEL), from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (IE/UFRJ) Economics Institute, which develops researches and economic analyses on the Electricity Sector in Brazil under Professor Nivalde de Castro’s coordination, is one of the main Platform partners.

With the entities experience regarding the matters related to energy and the energy transition and their extensive contacts network, the German-Brazilian Alliance for Green Hydrogen believes that it will contribute largely to the development of the Brazilian potential for green hydrogen and PtX technologies.

The German-Brazilian Chambers of Commerce and Industry are part of a worldwide German chambers network, formed by over 140 offices, in more than 92 countries. Since 1916, business has been promoted between Brazil and Germany, whether through technology transfer, increase of exports and imports, as well as investments in professional education. When looking for commercial partners in the German market, getting to know new technologies and products, visiting exhibitions and events, count on the experience and competence of these entities.
